Little Blue Cottage

There's a particular kind of quiet in the Caribbean countryside that's hard to explain to someone who hasn't felt it. Not emptiness, but fullness. A small house painted the colour of a clear sky. A banana tree growing just outside. Everything needed, nothing wasted.

This painting started with colour, that blue against the green stopped me, but it became something larger. A reminder that the simplest life often takes the most work, and that there's real beauty in that.
